Description

Visit to the Socialized Wolves

At Langedrag, we now have three socialized wolves: Nare, Bauta, and Klippe. Nare was born on May 16, 2023, and Klippe and Bauta were born on May 14, 2024. For nearly two months, we worked on acclimatizing them so that the three could get to know each other. On August 25, we were able to announce that we have reached our goal: Nare has found his pack!

The wolves are now living together in a new enclosure, and they are thriving together. We observe daily details in their interactions and the communication between the wolves. We take great pleasure in bringing guests close to the wolves, and you can be one of those who gets to experience wolves up close, might be even get a wolf-kiss!

At "Visit to the Socialized Wolves" you will get the wolves close to you. You can also book a "Wolf yard visit" were our "wild wolves" lives.

We adapt and arrange the visit according to the phase of development the wolves are in, so what you experience is determined by the wolves. During the visit into the socialized wolves, you may get to see how they communicate, play, relax, or perhaps they will come to greet you and offer a "wolf kiss." If they want, you might even get to sing along with them when they harmonize in beautiful wolf songs and howl together with us.

The guides will tell you about the wolf in Norway and our work with the wolves here at Langedrag. We have had wolves since 1980 and we are excited to share with you from our experience and knowledge! We welcome you into the magical world of wolves!

Read the story about Nare here:

On May 16, 2023, three wolf pups were born here at Langedrag. The parents are Sigyn and Loke, who are our new breeding pair. Since Sigyn had only three pups, we postponed our planned socialization project until the following year.

This spring was tough regarding weather conditions. It was cold and there was still a lot of snow. After 16 days, we went in to chip the pups. One of the pups was found with a large wound in his chest, and the only way to save his life was to take him out and treat the wound with daily care and medication. We named him Nare.

We took on a significant job and a big responsibility to provide Nare with a good life. He grew up with dogs and the wolf team here at Langedrag. Until Easter 2024, he lived with the older wolves on the farm. However, we still had an important goal – to find Nare a pack to live with in the future. Unfortunately, the other two pups did not survive, and a biting cold spring may explain this.

Read the story about Bauta and Klippe here:

On May 14, 2024, five new wolf pups were born. This spring was warm and snow-free. When the pups were 10 days old, we took out two male pups and began an extensive socialization process again. This time with two healthy, vibrant pups and a team of 15 people to work with them. The goal was for these two to join "Nare's Pack." The three female pups that remained, now live with their mother Sigyn and father Loke here at Langedrag.

Today, the 2 male wolf pups and Nare live together, and they are three brothers who seem to thrive well together.
