Would you like a dream day driving your own sled into the mountains, with lunch served on the sled?
If you’re looking for a nature experience out of the ordinary, you should try a sled tour with your own dog team starting from Langedrag Nature Park.
On the 4-hour tour you will get a real feel of being a musher, challenging yourself a little more in steeper hills and higher terrain than on our shorter trips. We start from Langedrag at 1000 meters above sea level and travel up into beautiful mountain scenery at 1100–1200 meters. It is an incredible experience to work together with the dogs against the forces of nature. You will see how the dogs cooperate to pull you uphill, and you’ll need to help them where needed.
On this tour you will also take part in harnessing the dogs and learn how to organize the sled team. You’ll get to know “your” dogs through preparing them, driving, and sharing cuddles during the breaks. The sledding itself lasts about 3–3.5 hours. Along the way there will be a lunch break with hot food and drinks, enjoyed on reindeer hides in the sled.
Each sled has 2 people (or 3 if there are small children). You will take turns driving and riding in the sled. If the weather is clear, we can promise you a breathtaking view!
“There will be cozy stops along the way to cuddle with the dogs, learn more about dog sledding, and warm up.”
The 4-hour dog sledding tour is suitable for most people from 5–6 years and up. Drivers must be able to move around in snow and wear proper winter clothing. As a passenger, most people will be comfortable as long as they are warmly dressed. This is also a good way to get out into nature if you have mobility challenges in snowy terrain.
The tour includes a hot lunch and hot drinks. Please inform us in the comments if you have allergies or other dietary requirements.
Note: Please write your children’s ages in the comment field.
Who: Perfect if you enjoy an extra challenge! To drive your own sled you must be at least 12 years old. Passengers ride on reindeer skins in the sled. Children must always be accompanied by adults.
When: Tours run every Monday and Thursday as long as there is snow. Other days on request – contact us at post@langedrag.no.
Duration: 4 hours total.
Price: Adults - 3.000 NOK. Children - 2.500 NOK.
Meeting point: The dog yard below the parking lot, 5–10 minutes before your booked time.
Includes: Dog care, 3–3.5 hours dog sledding, hot lunch, hot drinks, dog cuddles, experienced mushers as instructors, and your own sled (2 people per sled).
Important to remember: Dress warmly! Even with reindeer hides in the sled, it can get cold. Good gloves/mittens are essential in all weather.
What you will learn:
– How the dogs work together when it gets tough
– How to steer and brake the sled in uneven terrain
– How mushers control the dogs with voice commands
– Dog care before and after the tour
Other tours:
We also offer shorter and longer tours – from 15–20 minute “taster” trips, 1-hour tours around the highland terrain at 1000 m, or 2-hour tours further into the mountains. Check our online booking for other dog sledding activities or email us at post@langedrag.no.
